Paying ARR royalties

You only need to tell DACS about sales that qualify for ARR royalty payments.

DACS ARR submissions team

How it works

Art market professionals – galleries, auction houses or art dealers – are responsible for submitting details of any UK sales that are eligible for ARR. DACS sends regular requests for sales information, but you can send us sales details without a request.

By UK law, you have to pay ARR through a collecting society like DACS. You cannot pay the artist directly.

Consigned sales, beneficiaries, and 'bought as stock' exception

Consignments, artworks inherited from the artist, and works 'bought as stock' do not qualify for an ARR payment. Learn more from our article on making an ARR payment.
