Founded in 1984, DACS is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to championing, protecting and managing artists' rights.
As a Copyright Management Organisation (CMO), we distribute royalty payments to artists, creators and beneficiaries. We envision a society which recognises, respects and values artists, and work with auction houses, galleries, art dealers and licensing clients to ensure fair pay for artwork sale and use.

DACS Artist’s Resale Right (ARR)
Who is this for? Visual artists, and the beneficiaries of visual artists, whose artwork is resold through galleries, auction houses or art dealers.
You’ll benefit from access to expert advice from DACS Copyright Advice Team.
Is it free to join? Yes. If we collect ARR royalties for you in the UK, we take 15%, just to cover our costs. If it's from overseas, we take 5%.
- Are you a visual artist, or the beneficiary of a visual artist, whose artwork is resold through galleries, auction houses or art dealers?
- Does the work resell for a £1000 or more?
- Are you the artist or was the artist you represent, a UK or Australian national or a national of a country in the European Economic Area (EEA)?
DACS Payback
Who is this for? Visual artists, creators or beneficiaries with copyright-protected artworks.
Submit your first claim and we take care of the rest. Your future publications claims are processed automatically. Claim for the same work yearly – only submit new work.
Is it free to join? Yes. We take a 15% admin deduction from your Payback royalties, just to cover our costs.

You’ll benefit from access to expert advice from DACS Copyright Advice Team, and may be invited to join our Artimage picture library.
Is it free to join? Yes. If we collect licensing royalties for you in the UK, we take 25%, just to cover our costs. If it's from overseas, we take 15%.
- Do you own the copyright in your artworks?
- Can you confirm that you haven't granted any exclusive rights to use your work to anyone else?
- Do you receive regular requests for your work to be reproduced?
