Register for the Artist's Resale Right (ARR)

If your work has been resold on the art market for £1,000 or more, you may be entitled to receive for Artist’s Resale Right royalties.

Are you eligible?

  • Are you a visual artist, or the beneficiary of a visual artist, whose artwork is resold through galleries, auction houses or art dealers?
  • Does the work resell for £1,000 or more?
  • Are you, as the artist, or was the artist you represent, a national of the UK, Australia or a country in the European Economic Area (EEA)?

DACS collects ARR payments for you and transfers the money to your bank account.

Register for the Artist's Resale Right as an artist or enquire as a beneficiary.

What you could get

The royalty due to you is calculated as a percentage of the sale price:

  • £0 to £50,000 = 4%
  • £50,000.01 to £200,000 = 3%
  • £200,000.01 to £350,000 = 1%
  • £350,000.01 to £500,000 = 0.5%
  • Above £500,000 = 0.25%

The royalty calculation is cumulative and the total ARR payable on a sale of a work is capped at £12,500.

DACS admin fee

Our fee ​​for royalties collected in the UK is 15% and for royalties collected from overseas is 5%.

As a not-for-profit organisation, we keep our costs down so that more money reaches artists and their beneficiaries.
