  • Take part in EU research into artists’ pay

    The European Commission is undertaking a survey of photographers, illustrators and designers to research differences in artists’ pay across Europe. Artists are invited to complete the survey by Sunday 14 June 2015.

  • Artists’ Payback royalties secured for 2015 and 2016

    DACS is pleased to announce it has made positive progress in its discussions with the Copyright Licensing Agency (CLA) regarding the royalties owed to visual artists through its collective licensing scheme. These royalties are paid annually to artists and estates through DACS’ Payback scheme.

  • UK copyright protection for designers to be extended in April 2020

    The Government has announced that the length of copyright protection in the UK for mass-produced artistic works will increase on 6 April 2020. This will primarily benefit designers in the applied or decorative arts, for work produced in multiple copies of 50 or more.

  • UK Government support of artists debated in the House of Lords

    The UK Government’s support of individual artists was the subject of a recent debate in the House of Lords, on Monday 19 January 2015. Discussion centred on the issues affecting artists today such as pay, intellectual property rights, studio space, public funding cuts and arts education.

  • DACS supports PhD research into economic and policy landscape for visual artists

    DACS has partnered with the Oxford Internet Institute and Ruskin School of Art to support a fully-funded, three-year Doctoral Knowledge Exchange Studentship investigating the economic and policy-making landscape for visual artists. Applications are currently being sought by the deadline of 23 January 2015.
