DACS strengthens international reach by welcoming Polish CMO to our network of sister societies
This week, we’re proud to strengthen our international partnerships with the addition of ZAIKS, Poland’s leading collective management organisation, to our sister society network.
With this new agreement, the number of societies we collaborate with has grown from 36 in 2024 to 38 in 2025, following our most recent reciprocal arrangement with both ZAIKS and the New Zealand society RRA earlier this year. Each new partnership extends protection for more artists, increases access to royalty payments and further strengthens international collaboration.
Who are ZAIKS?
Founded in 1918, ZAIKS (Związek Autorów i Kompozytorów Scenicznych) is Poland’s largest collective management organisation. With more than a century of experience, it represents a wide community of creators including composers, lyricists, screenwriters, playwrights, translators, visual artists, choreographers and music publishers. ZAIKS ensures that artists are fairly compensated whenever their works are used - whether in print, on screen, in performance, or across digital platforms. Each year, it distributes millions in royalties and is also recognised as one of Poland’s most significant patrons of culture.
What does this partnership mean?
The agreement between DACS and ZAIKS expands our international reach and ensures that the artists we represent are supported when their works are used in Poland. At the same time, Polish artists represented by ZAIKS will benefit when their works are used in the UK through DACS. This reciprocal collaboration is central to how collective management works across borders, giving artists access to royalties from the use of their works abroad.
Why sister societies matter
Our network of sister societies underpins DACS’ international work. These partnerships make it possible to protect artists’ rights globally, facilitate cross-border licensing, and ensure that royalties flow back to the creators who deserve them. Local societies like ZAIKS are uniquely placed to navigate and apply the laws of their own territories, ensuring that rights are enforced effectively and fairly. By working together, we create a system that artists can rely on, wherever their work travels.
