Introducing DACS Images: a fresh take on artist-first licensing
DACS has launched DACS Images, a redesigned and expanded image bank that brings together image licensing and copyright clearance on a single, easy-to-use platform. It is now fully integrated with the DACS website, making it easier than ever to discover and license art.
Previously known as Artimage, DACS Images is now the central destination for publishers, museums, galleries, auction houses and others looking for artist-approved, high-resolution images. The collection features work by over 350 artists, including some of the UK’s most recognised names such as Francis Bacon, Sonia Boyce, Sir Frank Bowling, Peter Doig, Dame Tracey Emin, Damien Hirst, Yinka Shonibare CBE and David Shrigley.
What sets DACS Images apart isn’t just its repertoire, but the direct relationship it maintains with artists and estates. Many of the images are provided by the artists themselves, ensuring authenticity and supporting fair licensing practices that benefit creators directly.
The platform also includes international artists such as Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, and from this month features works by René Magritte, with more global names to be added later this year.
The updated platform includes:
- Improved navigation and advanced search tools
- Larger, customisable image previews
- A clear, user-friendly interface
DACS is committed to protecting and managing the rights of artists, especially as technology continues to evolve, reshaping how artworks are used, shared, and reproduced. In this rapidly changing landscape, effective licensing models are more important than ever as a sustainable and transparent way for artists to be remunerated for the use of their work. DACS Images will increase the visibility of our members’ works and enhance the overall customer experience. Crucially, it will maximise revenue opportunities for both artists and their estates.

Artist
Having our images of Francis Bacon’s paintings safely stored and beautifully presented on DACS Images, along with their catalogue raisonné numbers, is invaluable both as a public resource and as ongoing support for the management and protection of Bacon’s legacy. We applaud the way in which DACS supports artists and their estates and we are enormously grateful to its expert team.
