A new selection of images by high-profile artists represented by ADAGP - the French collecting society for visual artists, are now available through DACS Images. This development brings a significant expansion to our image licensing platform, offering clients access to a broader range of modern and contemporary works from internationally recognised artists.

Who are the ADAGP?

ADAGP (Société des Auteurs dans les Arts Graphiques et Plastiques) is DACS’ sister organisation in France and one of the leading rights management societies for visual artists worldwide. Like DACS, ADAGP advocates for the intellectual property rights of artists and ensures they are compensated when their work is used. This longstanding partnership reflects a shared commitment to supporting artists’ rights globally, and the inclusion of their repertoire within DACS Images strengthens that relationship.

Updates to the DACS Images collection

The new additions include a number of iconic figures whose work has left a lasting imprint on the visual arts. Examples include René Magritte, renowned for his surrealist paintings that question perception and reality, featured with famous works including 'The Son of Man, 1964'. André Villers, best known for his powerful black and white portrait photography and close collaboration with Pablo Picasso, is represented through a selection of intimate photographs capturing moments and figures in European art and culture.

Meanwhile, Jean Dubuffet, a pioneer of the Art Brut movement, is now available with a range of his raw, expressive and painterly works. Alongside is Tamara de Lempicka, celebrated for work that helped define the Art Deco era. Our image collection includes rarer works, such as 'The Cup of Grapes, 1949' as well her more widely recognised sleek, stylised portraits.

The bowl and fruit rest on a pale surface against a minimally detailed light-toned purple/pink background. In the top corner, a painted pinned tag shows the artist’s name.

DACS is proud to be trusted by ADAGP with the authorised image supply of these works. While we’ve long licensed these artists, we’re now also able to supply their images directly - bringing greater efficiency, quality assurance, and added value for clients, while generating additional revenue for the artists and estates through both image provision and rights clearance. Each image is handled with care, ensuring proper context, attribution, and respect for the artist’s vision.

Thoughtful licensing plays a vital role in supporting both clients and creators. For clients, it offers clarity and confidence in the use of visual content. For artists and estates, it ensures appropriate use and continued income from their work. This careful balance helps sustain a fair and vibrant creative sector.
