Creating a digital archive
Some artists and beneficiaries have digitised artworks for licensing use and preservation. We recommend doing this through a third party such as DACS: to ensure that copyright is protected and secured as much as possible.
Making your artworks digitally available involves cataloguing and digitising artwork, potentially adding these to a website.
Website
We recommend uploading low resolution images only, and that any images are watermarked, to reduce the risk of AI scraping and users downloading images without agreeing licensing conditions or a fee for use. You could also register your artwork with Spawning AI, who help rights holders to protect their copyright. Visit the Spawning AI website.
Social media
Your website may also signpost other audio visual digital copy storage channels such as social media. DACS recommends opting out of AI collection, reuse and learning on each social media site if you post artworks on these sites. Always watermark your artworks if uploaded to websites or social media channels.
