Matthew Flowers

So what is it you do exactly?
I run three contemporary art galleries in London and New York.

Career high point?
Being made Managing Director at a Gallery dinner 20 years ago with guests like Nick Serota in attendance.

Worst job ever done?
Running ‘Artist of the Day’ for two weeks before I had assistants to help me. Hanging a different show every night for two weeks and taking care of a different artist each day.

If you were Minister for Culture for the day what would you do?
Abolish VAT on sale of art.

What’s your guiltiest pleasure?
Internet chess in the middle of the night.

People you would most like to bump into at a private view?
Roman Abramovich, Michelle Pfeiffer, Jasper Johns.

Copyright turns me on because...
It supports artists, which makes me happy.

Desert island art work?
I already own it: John Kirby – Self Portrait 1987. It featured in the film ‘The Birdcage’ with Robin Williams.

Tell us a secret!
I have a cat called Frank Lampard.
