Let me introduce you... Conor Kelly is an artist and musician based in London. Known for his sound installations and music, he has been working increasingly with film and video. Conor recently joined the DACS Board of Directors at the end of 2007.So what is it you do exactly? I make films and videos and sound-works and use them as materials to make work in galleries. I work with music. I also talk to students about the history of such malarkey and look at their work while I do some generous chin rubbing and nodding. Career high point? Yes... bring on more high points. Worst job you've ever done? Cleaning congealed vinyl inks from screens in an unventilated screen-printing factory in Dublin with a hangover on a hot summer morning the day after my 17th birthday. If you were Minister for Culture for the day what would you do? Reclaim the baby and the bathwater (and the soap and the bath tub) that the arts-council strangely and alarmingly threw out recently. What's your guiltiest pleasure? I make bags of popcorn at home and sneak them into the cinema... saves me thousands. Desert island art work? I would pick any one of hundreds of Marlene Dumas and hang it on a tree. People you would most like to bump into at a private view? I'll bump into anybody, anywhere, anytime. Copyright turns me on because... Ker-ching! Tell us a secret! My PIN number is 5501 |
