The Artist's Resale Right means that you, as an artist, could be entitled to a royalty when your work is resold by an auction house, gallery or dealer for more than €1000. This is the most significant new right for visual artists in recent times, providing you with an ongoing stake in the value of your work.

A range of visual artists have already benefited from royalties including fine artists, bookbinders, photographers, sculptors, furniture designers and ceramicists. For further information about the Right and to find out if you are eligible, please refer the Artist FAQs booklet.

You can only secure these royalties via a collecting society such as DACS. We are the leading organisation administering the Right, and we can ensure you receive your royalties from qualifying sales not just in the UK but also internationally through our network of rights management organisations.

Will it cost me anything to use this service?
There is no cost to register with us. As a not-for-profit organisation we retain a share of the royalties we collect on your behalf to cover our costs. For resale royalties collected in the UK this is 15%. We do not retain a share of any resale royalties collected from from overseas.

We are committed to paying artists their resale royalties as soon as possible.
