Joanna Cave, DACS Chief Executive

Joanna originally trained and practised as a sculptor and worked as a chief executive in arts, education and legal organisations before joining DACS in 2000. Joanna has spoken and written extensively in the UK and throughout the world on the subjects of copyright, Artist’s Resale Right and the visual arts. She holds several non-executive positions and is currently Vice Chair of the British Copyright Council. In 2004, Joanna was awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in UK, European and USA Law of Copyright & Related Rights from Kings College, London and in 2007, graduated from the Prime Minister’s Top Leadership Programme at the National School of Government.

John Robinson, Director of Legal & International

John Robinson started his professional life as a freelance music writer, musician and independent record label owner. Since 1986, John has worked to promote and protect the rights of creative people, as the national official for opera and dance companies at Equity, the performers’ trade union, and, after a period in legal publishing, as head of legal services for the Incorporated Society of Musicians. John joined the Design and Artists Copyright Society (DACS) in 2002.

In 2005, John was awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in UK, European and USA Law of Copyright & Related Rights from Kings College, London.

Jane Sandeman, Director of Finance

Jane Sandeman has worked as a senior Finance Manager in the arts and not-for-profit sector since 1990. She was the Financial Controller at Cornerhouse in Manchester, Arts Council England and the Royal National Theatre. Her position before joining DACS was Head of Finance and Contracts at Business Link for London. Jane is an ACCA qualified accountant.

Jeremy Stein, Director of Services

Jeremy Stein initially trained and worked in marketing within the financial services industry. For the last twelve years he has worked as both a Publishing Director and as a Marketing Director for three leading UK textbook publishers. Jeremy joined the Design and Artists Copyright Society (DACS) in April 2007 to run the newly formed Services Department, which is responsible for all the DACS copyright licensing and membership activities. Jeremy is currently studying for a Postgraduate Diploma in Digital Marketing.
